Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the chart’s subject and give a relevant overview by noting that China leads both production and consumption, with the United States second. The figures you report for these two countries are accurate. However, the response covers only a small part of the chart: it does not compare the remaining countries or highlight the notable exception of Germany, where consumption exceeds production. The claim that Korea is the lowest in both measures is accurate, but the statement that “others country” are lowest is unclear and conflicts with the ranking you have just given. The response is also 54 words below the required minimum, leaving the summary substantially incomplete. Include key comparisons across the full set of countries and support the overview with selected figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph giving figures for China and the United States. This helps the reader identify the main topic and the two countries discussed in detail. However, progression is limited because the final paragraph repeats the leading-country point rather than extending the comparison to other data. Linking is also awkward in places: “Secondly” does not clearly connect the ranking, and “But others country” leaves the relationship between ideas uncertain. Use a clearer sequence—overview, leading countries, then lower-ranked countries or exceptions—and connect comparisons with straightforward phrases such as “By contrast” and “Meanwhile.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “billion kwh,” and “peak,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which makes parts of the description difficult to interpret. For example, “electricity produced and consumption country” is not a natural way to describe the leading countries, while “most lowest” is redundant. There are also spelling errors such as “prodeuction” and “Unaited.” Aim for precise, reusable language for describing data, such as “generated,” “consumed,” “ranked first,” and “the lowest figure.” Check spelling and avoid repeating the same phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences use simple structures, and the figures in the final paragraph are presented in understandable clauses. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction. For example, “The bar charts illustrates” should use a plural verb, while “electricity production and consumption depicts” has an unclear subject and incorrect agreement. In “China was largest electricity produced and consumption country,” the missing article and faulty structure obscure the intended meaning. The response also relies heavily on short statements joined with basic connectors, so it shows little structural variety. Practise accurate comparison patterns such as “China produced X, while consumption was Y” and check agreement, articles, and complete sentence structure.
