Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s main leaders and lowest-ranked country: China has the highest production and consumption, the United States is second, and Korea is among the lowest. Several figures are also reported accurately, including China’s 5,398 and 5,322 billion kWh and Germany’s higher consumption than production. However, the overview is limited and some comparisons are unclear or inaccurate: “China production and consumption rate is 5,398 and 5322 then China…” mistakenly repeats China’s figures where the United States should be named. The claim that Russia produces and consumes “same rate” is also imprecise, as the values differ slightly. Cover the remaining countries more selectively and compare key patterns, especially Germany’s exception.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure, moving from an opening and overview to details about the leading countries and then the others. Paragraph breaks and markers such as “To commence with” and “moreover” help signal stages. However, progression is uneven: the second paragraph repeats China and misidentifies the United States, while the final paragraph lists several figures without a clear comparative focus. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, as in “In order if we see at the the last,” and the full stop on a separate line interrupts the flow. Group countries by meaningful similarities or contrasts, and use clear references so readers can follow which country each figure describes.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “largest,” and “rate,” and the reader can generally identify the topic and comparisons you intend. However, the range is limited and several word combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “largest rate electricity,” “consume large rate,” and “produce and consume same rate.” Repetition of “produce,” “consume,” and “rate” also makes the report less precise. Spelling errors such as “cocumption,” “otherr,” “tates,” and “consumpton” are noticeable and sometimes slow understanding. Build a more accurate set of comparison phrases, for example “generated the most electricity,” “consumption was slightly lower,” and “ranked second.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and agreement appear in phrases such as “the china produced the largest rate electricity and consume large rate” and “the france produce,” where articles, verb forms, and sentence construction are not controlled. The sentence beginning “In order if we see…” is difficult to interpret, and the figures in “5,398and5322” are not separated clearly by punctuation. Most statements follow a repetitive subject-plus-figure pattern, with little accurate use of clauses to express comparisons. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, agreement, punctuation, and the distinction between present and past forms.
