Student answer (Band 5.5)
The bar chart illustrates the highest ten countries for the efficiency also consumption of electricity in 2014.
The top most production is about 5,398 billion kWh in China whereas China has taken the highest consumption too. Which is 5,322 billion kWh. On the other hand the lowest production & comsumption is accordingly 485.1 and 449.5 billion kWh.

In this country the consumption is higher comparative to production. The second highest United States contains 4099 billion kWh of production and the consumption is 3866 billion kWh. The difference from the previous country is decreases. But Russia's progress is too much decreases than US. On the other hand comparison between Russia, Japan and India is almost near than each other. The last one is Korea and its contain the lowest number of production & consumption capacity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important features accurately: China leads both measures, Korea has the lowest figures, and Germany is the exception where consumption exceeds production. The figures given for China and the United States are also correct. However, the overview is limited and some comparisons are unclear or inaccurate. For example, saying production and consumption in Russia, Japan and India are “almost near than each other” does not clearly describe their substantial differences, and “the graphs are down drastically” is vague. The response also omits useful comparisons among the middle-ranking countries and does not clearly summarise the overall scale gap between the two leaders and the rest. A clearer overview and more precise selection of comparisons would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the chart, reports the highest and lowest figures, and then discusses general patterns and selected countries. Linking expressions such as “On the other hand” and “Nevertheless” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear, and some links do not express the intended relationship. For instance, “The difference from the previous country is decreases” is difficult to follow, while the shift from the overall trend to the United States and then Russia, Japan and India feels abrupt. The paragraphing also does little to separate the overview from supporting comparisons. Organise the report into a clear introduction, overview and grouped detail, and use linking words only where their relationship is precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “highest,” “lowest” and “exception,” so the main topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are unnatural, sometimes making comparisons hard to interpret. Examples include “efficiency also consumption,” “top most production,” “graphs are down drastically,” and “contains 4099 billion kWh.” There are also spelling errors such as “comsumption,” and repeated use of “country” and “number” limits precision. Choose standard terms for describing data, such as “output,” “figure,” “ranked” and “declined,” and check spelling and collocations. More accurate phrasing would help you report trends without relying on vague expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses beginning “whereas” and “Nevertheless.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction and verb forms frequently make parts of the report difficult to read. “Which is 5,322 billion kWh” is a sentence fragment, while “The difference from the previous country is decreases” has an incorrect verb construction. In “Almost all countries production is higher,” the possessive form is missing, and “its contain” has an incorrect subject–verb pattern. Punctuation also creates awkward breaks, particularly after “China.” Build complete sentences around each comparison, check subject–verb agreement and possessives, and use a reliable pattern such as “Production was higher than consumption in most countries.”
