Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s subject, year and unit, and your overview correctly notes that production is generally higher than consumption, with Germany as the exception. You also select relevant comparisons, including the small production-consumption gaps for China, the United States and Russia. However, some details are inaccurate or too vague: Japan, India, Canada and France do not all have production about 100 billion kWh above consumption; the gaps vary considerably, and India’s is about 172 billion. Brazil is not simply balanced, with a gap of roughly 75 billion. The final claim that all countries manage usage “so well” is an unsupported judgement rather than a chart feature. More precise comparisons and clearer reporting of the main scale differences would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, two comparison paragraphs and a conclusion. The contrast signalled by “on the one hand” and “on other hand” helps the reader follow the grouping of countries. However, the progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph moves from China and the United States to Russia, then groups four countries without explaining their different figures. “Move towards Russia” and “lets jump to other countries” sound conversational and make the sequence feel abrupt. The conclusion repeats a broad claim rather than synthesising the comparisons. Use clearer grouping, such as the two highest producers, the middle-ranked countries and Germany, and connect each group with precise transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “capacity” and “billion kWh,” so the reader can understand the subject. There is also some attempt to vary expression, for example “higher comparatively” and “opposite prospect.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing data: “creation” is less suitable than “generation,” “opposite prospect” does not clearly express Germany’s exception, and “balanced” overstates how similar some figures are. Informal phrases such as “lets jump” are not appropriate for an academic report. Spelling and presentation also need attention, including “canda” and inconsistent capitalisation of country names. Aim for precise chart language such as “exceeded,” “was lower than,” and “by approximately.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in subject-verb agreement, articles and sentence boundaries. For example, “this bar graph illustrate” should use a plural subject with “illustrates,” while “this nations production capacity” needs a plural form and possessive structure. The overview’s “the production and consumption … is” also has an agreement problem. Several clauses are joined with commas, as in “only one country has opposite prospect,” and the long sentence beginning “lets jump to other countries” is difficult to parse. Use shorter, complete sentences and check agreement, articles and punctuation; practise accurate complex clauses before adding more of them.
