Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You include figures for most countries and identify China and the United States as the leading producers and consumers, which gives the response relevant coverage. However, the overview is brief and does not clearly summarise the main pattern that production exceeds consumption in nearly every country, with Germany the exception. There are also factual inaccuracies: the United States is not “better then China” in the chart’s ranking, Brazil is listed as number eight rather than nine, and Korea’s production is 485.1, not 449.5 billion kWh. The final claim that the figures vary according to population is unsupported. A clearer overview and more accurate selection of key comparisons would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response follows the chart’s country sequence for much of its content, and transitions such as “Furthermore,” “Move forward” and “At last” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, the writing is presented as one long block, with no clear introduction or separate overview, so the main message is difficult to distinguish from the list of figures. Linking phrases are repetitive and sometimes awkward, while the shift from country-by-country reporting to the final comparison is abrupt. Organise the response into paragraphs: introduce the chart, summarise the overall pattern, then group the leading countries and the lower figures. Use a smaller range of precise links to show comparisons rather than simply moving from one country to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “compare” and “billion kWh,” and the country names make the subject clear. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “how much the production of electricity produced,” “which is better then China,” and “on top electricity production and consumption country.” Spelling errors, including “diffrenace,” “producton” and “elctricity,” also reduce clarity. Some repeated sequencing expressions (“move forward,” “at last”) make the report sound like a spoken list rather than a formal summary. Practise accurate collocations for describing data, such as “generated,” “consumed,” “ranked first,” and “the figures were similar.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most of the response relies on simple present-tense statements, with limited control of sentence boundaries or more varied structures. Long strings of clauses run together without full stops, as in the opening sequence beginning “SO WE HAVE VARIOUS COUNTRY,” which makes relationships between ideas unclear. There are also recurring errors in sentence construction and agreement, for example “the production of China electricity is” and “the where less production and consumption is Korea.” Missing spaces and punctuation further affect readability. The repeated pattern “production is … and consumption is …” communicates basic comparisons, but a wider range of accurately formed sentences would improve the report. Use complete sentences, consistent punctuation, and structures such as “China produced…, while its consumption was…”.
