Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the chart’s subject and give a broad overview that China and the United States lead in both production and consumption. You also select some relevant comparisons, including China’s production of 5,398 and the US figure of 4,099. However, the response only partially reports the main features: it does not clearly compare the countries across the full ranking, and several statements are inaccurate or unclear. For example, saying both leading countries were “low in consumption” conflicts with their very high consumption figures, and the claim that Korea’s production exceeded consumption by 36.1 is incorrect; its production was higher by 35.6. Develop the overview around the large gap between the top two and the remaining countries, and report the Germany exception accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview, and further comparisons, so the reader can recognise the intended stages of the report. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph groups countries by supposed similarities, while the next paragraph shifts to another comparison without a clear organising principle. Connectors such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” do not establish a meaningful contrast here, and “These both countries” has an unclear reference. Organise the details into a clear sequence—for example, the two leading countries, then the middle group, then Germany and the remaining countries—and use linking phrases only when they express the relationship between the data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “comparison,” and “difference,” and the reader can generally identify the topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the report difficult to follow, such as “high in consume,” “follow the lead,” and “produced electricity in high value.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “staetes,” “littel,” “elcetricity,” and “consumbed.” Use precise reporting language and check spelling carefully; for example, describe figures as “higher” or “lower,” and say that a country “ranked first” or “recorded” a particular amount. This would make comparisons clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentence forms, including clauses joined with “while” and “because,” but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “the chart summarize” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “China & United staetes was at top” has problems with agreement and sentence construction. The final sentence also combines several comparisons without a clear grammatical structure: “consumption was low in USA in comparison with China consumbed…” Use shorter, complete sentences to report each comparison, and check articles, plurals, and verb forms. For instance, write “China produced 5,398 billion kWh, while the United States produced 4,099 billion kWh.”
