Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s main leaders, correctly reporting China’s production and consumption and the United States’ second-place figures. You also mention India’s position and note that several countries have similar production levels. However, the overview is unclear and includes unsupported claims: the chart does not show that China is one of the world’s largest economies or that Korea produces enough electricity for itself. Several comparisons are vague, such as Russia and Japan being “almost equal,” and Germany is grouped with France and Brazil despite its consumption being higher than its production and the other countries’ consumption. Korea’s production is also reported as 448.1 rather than 485.1. Select the main patterns accurately and compare the figures more directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about the leading countries and then the remaining producers. This gives the reader some organisation, and connectors such as “Overall,” “On the other hand,” and “Moreover” show an attempt to link ideas. However, progression is uneven: the overview introduces claims about economies and self-sufficiency rather than summarising the chart’s main pattern, while the final paragraph combines India, France, Brazil, Germany, and Korea without a clear comparison. Some linking phrases do not express the relationship accurately, and references such as “their” and “its” are unclear. Group countries by meaningful similarities and use transitions to make those comparisons explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “electricity,” and “billion kWh,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation frequently make the description difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “created and conducted of power,” “worth power,” and “dowest country to conduct the power” are not natural ways to describe the chart. There are also spelling errors, including “propotion,” “econony,” “kep,” and “powe.” Use the chart’s standard terms consistently—“produced,” “consumed,” “electricity production,” and “electricity consumption”—and check spelling and word forms. More precise vocabulary would make your comparisons clearer and more appropriate for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use some simple sentences and attempt longer structures, for example, “China produced 5,398 … and its consumption is 5,322” and the sentence beginning “While the India is on the fifth number.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and tense occur throughout. Examples include “the information presents china is,” “Russia and Japan almost is equal,” and “France Brazil, Germany their production number is almost same.” These patterns can make relationships between ideas hard to follow. Keep the sentence structure straightforward while practising accurate comparisons, such as “Russia produced slightly more electricity than it consumed.” Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and consistent past-tense reporting.
