Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You report many relevant figures and correctly identify China and the United States as the largest producers and consumers, while also covering most of the countries shown. However, the response mainly lists individual values rather than selecting and summarising the chart’s main features. There is no clear overview of the overall pattern, such as the large gap between the top two countries and the much lower figures for the rest. Some details are inaccurate or incomplete: Japan’s production is 936.2, not 936.7, and Germany is the only country where consumption exceeds production, but this comparison is not clearly stated. Brazil’s consumption is also omitted. Add a concise overview and make the key comparisons explicit to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response follows the chart’s country ranking, so readers can generally see which figures belong together. Sequencing phrases such as “Next comes,” “Now we move toward,” and “At no.7” provide some basic progression. However, the answer is presented as one long paragraph, and the repeated country-by-country pattern makes it read like a list rather than a clearly organised summary. Some transitions are inaccurate or confusing, including “Now at second last Germany,” while “No 5” and “the last one city” do not create smooth links. Group the information into an introduction, an overview, and one or two comparison paragraphs; use linking language to highlight patterns rather than simply announce the next country.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of relevant terms, including “production,” “consumption,” “generated,” and “used,” which helps communicate the chart’s subject. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several choices are inaccurate or informal for an academic report. “Watt” is not the unit shown; the chart gives figures in billion kWh. Phrases such as “electricity generation and consumption is also good” and “used less” are vague, and “lines” is not the best description of the bars. Spelling errors such as “counteries,” “repersent,” and “Canda” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range with terms such as “output,” “consumed,” “stood at,” and “exceeded,” and check spelling and units carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentence forms, for example, “Next comes United States which produced 4099 … and consumed 3866,” and the reader can usually follow the intended comparisons. However, the response relies heavily on simple, repetitive structures, and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include “China has generated” where a past-tense report is needed, “the amount … which is used from it,” and “the electricity production of is 561.2and useage is 463.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also often missing or incorrectly handled, as in “At no.7 France,” and punctuation is inconsistent. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete comparative sentences, and proofread for articles, agreement, spacing, and punctuation.
