Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main leaders accurately: China ranks first in both production and consumption, followed by the United States, and Korea is among the smallest producers and consumers. You also include several relevant figures, such as China’s 5,398 and 5,322 billion kWh and Canada’s production and consumption. However, the report covers some countries only by rank, without comparing their values, and the overview is not fully precise: Korea has the lowest production, but Germany—not Korea—has the lowest consumption among the ten. The statement that France had a lower amount than Canada is also unclear about which measure is being compared. Include the key exception and make comparisons across the figures more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an overview followed by details about the higher- and lower-ranked countries. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is uneven: the first detail paragraph moves from China to the United States, Russia, Japan and India, while several of these countries receive no figures or meaningful comparison. Connectors such as “In contrast,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” are sometimes used without a clear contrast, so they do not reliably show how ideas relate. Grouping the countries by production and consumption patterns, and using simpler links such as “Meanwhile” or “By comparison” only where appropriate, would make the organisation clearer and less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “ranked,” and “amount,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “cost of electricity” suggests a price rather than the quantity consumed, and “manufacture and cost are close similar” does not clearly describe the figures. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “manufracturing,” “electrielectricity,” “Rassia,” and “Franch.” Use the chart’s terms consistently and check spelling; more precise language for comparing quantities would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can usually identify the countries and figures being discussed. However, grammatical errors are frequent, and attempts to combine ideas often produce faulty sentences. For instance, “China had produce” has an incorrect verb form, while “China was highest electricity producer and user country” is missing articles and has an awkward noun structure. Subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “The bar chart illustrate” and the run-on construction “Brazil and germany manufacture and cost are close similer. So they stand…”. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, articles, agreement, and complete sentence structures before adding more complex clauses.
