Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s main extremes and ranking: China leads both production and consumption, while Korea has the lowest figures, and the United States is second in both. You also include several accurate values. However, the overview is weakened by saying the other countries are “either decreasing or keep fluctuating significantly,” which does not clearly describe the comparisons, and the claim that the trend is the same for consumption overlooks Germany, whose consumption (582.5) exceeds its production (526.6). The response also stops at 146 words, four words below the required minimum; 13 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Add a clearer overview and report the notable Germany exception.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about production and consumption. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “followed by” help show ranking. However, progression is limited: the overview’s list of countries does not establish a useful comparison, and the final paragraph largely repeats the same ranking pattern rather than grouping the data meaningfully. Linking is also sometimes awkward or mechanical, as in “In contrast to that” and “This trend is same for consumption as well.” Use a clearer overview, then group the leading countries and lower figures, with a separate note on Germany’s unusual consumption result.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “followed by,” and “least,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “highest proportion” is not suitable for these absolute figures, “records with least proportion” is awkward, and “keep fluctuating significantly” does not accurately describe the data. Spelling errors such as “Koera,” “flucctuating,” and “eletcrity” also reduce control. Aim for precise terms such as “highest output,” “lowest figure,” and “declines across the rankings,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid repeating “trend” when describing simple comparisons.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparative sentences, and the reader can usually understand the intended meaning. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with frequent errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries. Examples include “the China accounts,” “the United States stands at second position,” and “This trend keep decreasing”; these need forms such as “China accounts,” “ranks second,” and “keeps decreasing.” The opening also runs two sentences together after “2014,” while “the least electricity is consumed” has an unclear, faulty construction. Use shorter, carefully checked sentences and practise subject–verb agreement, article use with country names, and punctuation between sentences.
