Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given bar chart illustrates the top ten countries for the production and use of the voltage power in 2014.

Overall, it is evident that the highest production of volatge was recorded in china, while, lowest amount of electrical power was used in France. Meanwhile, russsia to Korea had shown a considerably decreasing trend.

At the outset, production and consumption were both at their peaks, at 5,398 and 5,322 kWh, respectively. Whereas, the united states was considerably higher than Russia, at 4,099 to 3866. After that, in Russian it went down.(1,057,1038). Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the chart’s subject and include several relevant figures, including China’s production and consumption and the United States’ values. However, the overview is inaccurate: France did not have the lowest consumption; Korea had the lowest figure, while Germany’s consumption was higher than its production. The claim that Russia to Korea showed a decreasing trend also overlooks Germany’s higher consumption and does not clearly describe the comparisons. Several details are incomplete or unclear, such as the Japan-to-Canada range, and the response ends without a meaningful comparison of all countries. The response is 146 words, below the required 150. Add a concise, accurate overview and select key comparisons to complete the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details, and signposts such as “At the outset,” “After that,” and “Finally” help indicate sequence. However, progression is difficult to follow because the body groups countries without clearly explaining the comparisons, and some links are inaccurate or incomplete. For example, “Next, in Russian it went down” does not specify what is being compared, while the Japan-to-Canada sentence combines figures in a confusing way. The final paragraph also gives little information about Brazil and Germany. Organise the body into clear comparison groups, use each sentence to report a complete point, and make references such as “it” explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “peaks,” and “trend,” so the reader can recognise the topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. “Voltage power” is not an appropriate description of the chart, and “the electricity generate and uses” does not express production and consumption naturally. Spelling errors such as “volatge,” “russsia,” “Followwing,” and “renked” are noticeable. Use the chart’s precise terms consistently—“electricity production” and “electricity consumption”—and check spelling and collocations. More accurate vocabulary would make the comparisons easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentence forms, including the overview beginning “Overall, it is evident…” and the comparison introduced by “Whereas.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make several statements difficult to interpret. For example, “the electricity generate and uses were both showed” has problems with verb form and construction, while “Both Brazil and germany had followed” uses an unsuitable tense. Sentence fragments and punctuation also affect clarity, as in “After that, in Russian it went down.(1,057,1038).” Build comparisons with complete, controlled clauses, use consistent past-tense forms, and check subject–verb agreement and punctuation before submitting.
