Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and give a relevant overview: China leads both measures, the United States is second, and Korea has the lowest figures. Several figures are accurately reported, including China’s and the United States’ totals, and you make some comparisons among other countries. However, the response is under-developed and does not cover the main pattern across the full top ten clearly. The claim that Russia, Japan and India have “almost similar” figures is misleading, particularly because India’s consumption is notably lower than Russia’s and Japan’s. Germany’s consumption is also higher than its production, unlike most countries, but this important exception is not explained. The response contains 122 words, below the 150-word minimum; the nine words copied from the prompt are excluded from that count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall shape: an introduction, an overview, and details about selected countries. Linking expressions such as “followed by” and “whereas” show an attempt to connect information. However, progression is limited: the discussion moves from the leading countries to a broad comparison, then to Korea, Germany and Brazil without a clear grouping or consistent order. Some links are awkward or unclear, as in “Whereas, korea, rep. respresented the lowest figure,” and the final sentences repeat Korea’s figures after they have already been given. Organise the details into clear groups—for example, the two leading producers, the middle-ranking countries, and the lower figures—and use references and comparisons to avoid repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “highest,” “lowest,” and “figure,” so the reader can generally understand the topic. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the report less clear, such as “corrborates,” “respectivily,” “nealy,” and “enery.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “had the almost similar figure” and “a little higher figure” do not describe the comparisons naturally. Use accurate forms such as “recorded,” “respectively,” and “energy consumption,” and choose comparison language that states exactly what is higher or lower. Check country-name spelling and capitalisation, including “Korea, Rep.,” “Japan,” and “India.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a comparison with “Whereas” and a sentence joining several countries with “and.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “The bar charts displays” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “China had generated and consume” mixes verb forms. “China had generated and consume the highest electricity” also needs a more accurate grammatical structure. The sentence beginning “Russia, japan and indan had…” is overloaded and difficult to interpret. Practise writing shorter, complete comparison sentences, keeping tense and verb forms consistent, and check agreement between each subject and verb.
