Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the chart’s subject and give a relevant overview, correctly noting that China leads in both measures and Korea has the lowest figures. The comparisons for China and the United States are also broadly accurate. However, the response covers only a small part of the data: it gives little detail for Russia, Japan and India, and omits most countries, including the notable exception of Germany, where consumption exceeds production. The phrase “marginally changes” does not clearly report the figures or comparison. The final sentence is unfinished, and the response is 9 words below the required minimum. To develop the report, include a fuller selection of comparisons and complete the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to selected country details. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and expressions such as “Overall” and “Furthermore” signal transitions. However, progression is limited because the body reports only a few countries and does not group or compare the figures consistently. Some linking is awkward or inaccurate: “Followed by United States” is a fragment, while “whereas” begins a sentence without a clear connection to the preceding one. The final “although the overall” is incomplete and leaves the report abruptly unfinished. Organise the body into clear comparisons—for example, the two leading countries and the remaining figures—and use complete sentences with purposeful links.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “billion kWh,” and “lowest,” so the main topic is generally understandable. There are also attempts to vary wording, such as “manufacturing” and “utilizing,” but these are not natural choices for describing electricity data; “generation” and “use” would be more precise. Several noticeable spelling and word-choice problems reduce accuracy, including “comapres,” “sabstantial,” and “marginally changes.” “Huge amount production” is also an awkward collocation. The vocabulary range is sufficient to convey a few basic comparisons, but it is not consistently controlled. Focus on accurate chart language and standard collocations, and check spelling before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main figures in the China and United States sentences can be understood. However, grammatical control is uneven, with errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and punctuation. For example, “it is clearly seem” has an incorrect verb form, and “the huge amount production and consumption … is” has faulty structure and agreement. “Followed by United States” is not a complete sentence, while “on 6th rank the country is canada” uses an awkward grammatical pattern. The final clause, “although the overall,” is incomplete. Use complete subject–verb sentences, check articles and agreement, and avoid beginning a new sentence with a dependent clause unless it is joined to a main clause.
