Student answer (Band 5.5)

The bar chart illustrates the top ten countries for the utilization and production of electricity in 2014.

China and united states highly produced the electricity and their utilization of electricity was the almost same just little bit differences in it. On the other side remaining countries like Russia also produced same amount of electricity according to their need. Other countries also produced low amount of electricity according to their needs. But some countries produced very less amount of electricity and they utilization is high then production.

China produced 5,398 kWh and they consumed 5,322 kWh so they produced only minimum 60 kWh extra. On the other side United sates was produced 4,099 kWh and they consumed 3,866, according to this they have 200 above kWh after full fill the need of electricity. Furthermore, Germany was produced 526.7 kWh and they need 582.5 according to this they produced less then they consumed.

In nutshell only China and United state produced high level of electricity according to their needs. Moreover, Remaining all countries produced less electricity, only top two countries fulfil their need of electricity and remaining all countries are less produced of electricity there is no comparison between last seven countries with top two countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the chart’s subject and include relevant comparisons, especially the much higher figures for China and the United States and Germany’s consumption exceeding its production. The figures for China and the United States are broadly accurate, although the stated surplus for China is not: the difference is 76 billion kWh, rather than “only minimum 60.” Germany’s production is also slightly misstated. However, the response only partially reports the main features. It gives no clear, accurate overview of the overall ranking and makes broad claims such as “remaining all countries produced less electricity” without explaining the differences among them. Russia’s near balance is mentioned, but other useful comparisons are omitted. Select the key patterns, report them accurately, and avoid unsupported generalisations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has some organisation: it begins with a general statement, gives a paragraph of figures, and ends with a summary. This provides a basic structure, and phrases such as “On the other side” and “Furthermore” attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear. The opening paragraph repeats broad claims that are revisited in the conclusion, while the final paragraph introduces another generalisation rather than synthesising the data. Connectors are sometimes used mechanically or inaccurately, and references such as “they” and “their need” do not always make clear which country or figures are meant. Organise the response around an overview followed by grouped comparisons, and use linking phrases only where they express a clear relationship.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “production,” “consumed,” “according to their needs,” and “comparison,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated or imprecise, such as “produced high level,” “low amount,” and “their need.” Some word combinations are unnatural, including “the utilization of electricity was the almost same” and “full fill the need.” These choices sometimes make the intended comparison harder to follow. Use standard chart language such as “generated,” “consumption,” “exceeded,” and “was broadly similar to,” while varying repeated terms. Check spelling and word forms as well, including “United States” and “utilisation/consumption,” to make the report more precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including comparisons with “so” and “according to this,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in verb forms and sentence construction: “United sates was produced” should be “the United States produced,” and “they utilization is high then production” needs a clearer grammatical structure, such as “their consumption was higher than their production.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and plurals, as in “the almost same” and “remaining all countries.” Several long sentences join multiple ideas without clear punctuation, which makes relationships difficult to follow. Practise accurate comparative sentences and use a wider range of structures only when you can control them; careful editing for verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries would improve clarity.
