Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main pattern that China and the United States lead both production and consumption, and you include several relevant figures, such as China’s 5,398 and 5,322 billion kWh and the US figures of 4,099 and 3,866. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate: Germany is not among the lowest in consumption, since its 582.5 exceeds the figures for several countries, and Korea has the lowest production. The comparison that China produced more than the US is also unclear in “China had more the America.” Most middle-ranking countries are listed rather than compared, and the claim that their differences are slight is not consistently supported. A clearer overview and more selective, accurate comparisons would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to figures for the leading countries and then the others. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow: the sentence about Germany and Korea combines their rankings with a comparison of production and consumption without making the relationships clear. Linking expressions such as “In other words,” “however,” and “moreover” are sometimes used where the ideas do not logically connect. The final paragraph also becomes a long list of figures, with punctuation and line breaks interrupting the comparison. Grouping countries by a clear feature and using simpler, more precise transitions would improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant terms, including “production,” “consumption,” “amount,” and “B kWh,” and you attempt alternatives such as “yielding” and “utilizating.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning harder to understand. For example, “utilizating” is not the appropriate noun form, and “the account of yielding and consumin” does not clearly describe the figures. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “arround,” “consective,” and “countires,” alongside inconsistent capitalisation of “kWh.” Aim for a smaller set of accurate chart terms and use them consistently; this will communicate comparisons more clearly than trying to vary wording with unsuitable synonyms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is uneven, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships difficult to follow. Examples include “the yielding and utilizating of electricity in the both China and United states was on top,” where articles, word order, and agreement are problematic, and “Russia was produce,” which uses an incorrect verb form. Several clauses are joined without clear sentence boundaries, particularly in the final paragraph, while punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent. The response would benefit from building accurate short comparison sentences first—for example, stating production and consumption separately—then combining them with controlled clauses such as “while” or “whereas.”
