Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the chart, including the trends for different income brackets. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you correctly identify the growth in the highest income bracket, the description of the other categories is repetitive and lacks precise comparison. For instance, stating that figures were 'roughly the same' or 'about' without referencing specific data points from the chart limits the depth of your analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure you select the most significant data points to illustrate the trends rather than listing figures for every category, and provide a clearer overview of the overall shifts between 2007 and 2015.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use basic cohesive devices like 'In conclusion' and 'Lastly' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'Then comes the households'). To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each sentence connects smoothly to the previous one. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more sophisticated to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the income ranges and trends clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'yearly income', 'ranges', and 'exponentially'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and phrasing, such as 'most amount of households' (should be 'greatest number') and 'average income households' (which is slightly confusing in context). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. To achieve a higher score, incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repeating the same sentence structures when describing the data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in US', 'in the year 2007'), subject-verb agreement issues ('households who earns'), and punctuation errors (missing spaces after commas). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they occur frequently enough to impact the fluency of the text. To improve, focus on consistent subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence forms with greater accuracy.
