Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers the main features of the chart and provides relevant data points for comparison. You successfully identified the highest and lowest categories and noted trends across the three years. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, focusing on listing figures rather than synthesizing the information. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons are more analytical—for example, by highlighting the significant growth in the highest income bracket compared to the relative stability of the lower brackets. The overview is present but could be more comprehensive by summarizing the overall trend across all categories rather than just picking two specific data points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The use of cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'While', and 'However' helps guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly repetitive, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the comparison 'with respect to 2015' is confusing given that the sentence is already discussing 2015. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns or comparative phrases clearly refer back to the correct data would enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You use terms like 'category', 'households', and 'annual income' appropriately. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'categorie' instead of 'category'. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'number of households' (e.g., 'the figure for', 'the count of') and use more precise language to describe trends, such as 'remained stable', 'fluctuated', or 'experienced a significant increase'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'the number of household' (should be plural 'households') and 'were approximately same' (should be 'were approximately the same'). Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
