Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified the main trends and provided data points, the analysis is incomplete. Specifically, the paragraph regarding 2011 is unfinished, as the sentence 'however, the number of household earning between 0$50,000 and 99, 999' lacks a verb and a completion of the thought. Furthermore, the overview is somewhat generic. To improve, ensure you provide a complete summary of all data points and ensure the response meets the length requirement to avoid a penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the logical flow is disrupted by the incomplete sentence in the second body paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'While' and 'In 2007', but the transition between the 2011 data and the 2015 data is abrupt. To improve, ensure that each sentence is grammatically complete and that you use a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly across the paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'increased significantly' and 'remained relatively stable'. However, there are several errors in word formation and spelling, such as 'United State' instead of 'United States', 'household' used in the singular when plural is required, and the formatting of currency figures like '$1000,00'. These errors occasionally distract the reader. Focus on proofreading for pluralization and correct numerical formatting to enhance the precision of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('number of household' instead of 'households'), missing verbs in the 2011 section, and inconsistent punctuation. The sentence structure is often repetitive. To reach a higher band, focus on ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and try to vary your sentence structure by using more complex clauses correctly.
