Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the chart, but the analysis is inconsistent and contains factual inaccuracies. For example, you state that the $75,000-$99,999 category is the 'lowest data' at 15 million, yet the chart shows other categories like the $100,000+ group fluctuating significantly. Furthermore, the description of trends is confusing; you mention the $100,000+ category increased every year, but then contradict this in the conclusion. The summary lacks a clear overview of the overall trends, and the data points cited are often imprecise or misread. To improve, ensure you carefully verify the data against the visual representation and focus on clear, comparative statements rather than listing figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by confusing transitions and contradictory statements. While you use cohesive devices like 'To commence with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion,' they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately given the context of the data. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between years. To reach a higher band, focus on ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one and that your cohesive devices accurately reflect the relationship between the ideas being presented.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher score. You rely on basic descriptors such as 'highest,' 'lowest,' and 'similar,' and there is a lack of variety in reporting trends. There are also issues with word choice and formatting, such as using '$' symbols incorrectly (e.g., '$100.000' instead of '$100,000') and using 'no.' as an abbreviation. To improve, incorporate a wider range of reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'fluctuated,' 'remained constant,' 'experienced a decline,' or 'a significant proportion,' to describe the data more professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but grammatical errors are frequent. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., '$50.000-$74.999 is show same data'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward phrasing. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of decimals and commas in numbers. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur often enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms.
