Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the chart and provided a clear overview. You covered all three years and the various income brackets. However, the data reporting is occasionally imprecise; for example, referring to '28 people' instead of '28 million households' is a significant error in data interpretation. Additionally, some descriptions of trends, such as 'slightly up and down', are vague. To improve, ensure you consistently use the correct units (millions) and provide more precise comparisons between the categories rather than just listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'overall', 'followed by', and 'next' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is sometimes mechanical, and the use of punctuation is inconsistent, which occasionally disrupts the logical progression of your sentences. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your paragraph structure is more balanced, as the current paragraphs vary significantly in length and detail.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the data clearly. You use terms like 'statistical analysis', 'annual income', and 'constant'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'every one year revenue' instead of 'annual income' and 'house members' instead of 'households'. These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensure you use the correct terminology for the data provided.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('the highest number of households are found') and article usage ('the 25 million of households'). Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the text. Focus on proofreading for basic sentence structure and verb agreement.
