Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the main features of the chart, but it is incomplete as the text ends abruptly mid-sentence. While you identify some trends, the analysis of the data is inconsistent. For instance, you state that the group with income over $100,000 remained on top, but the data shows fluctuations. Furthermore, the description of the 2011 and 2015 data is somewhat confusing and lacks precision in reporting the figures. To improve, ensure you provide a clear overview and support your points with accurate data points from the chart, ensuring the response is fully finished to cover all years presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the logical progression is hindered by the incomplete nature of the final paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'In 2007', but the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical or unclear, particularly when comparing the years. The referencing is occasionally confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the different income cohorts. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, complete focus would enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'categorized', 'cohorts', and 'stagnate'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'numerous household' (should be 'households') and 'majority of figure' (should be 'figures'). Additionally, there are some awkward phrasings like 'slightly followed by' and 'remained stagnate'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained constant', or 'experienced a marginal increase', and ensure pluralization is consistent throughout your work.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('number of household was', 'Other two cohorts... were showed') and missing articles ('in 2007, around 30millions household'). The sentence structure is often repetitive, and the incomplete ending significantly impacts the grammatical integrity of the final section. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that nouns are correctly pluralized when referring to quantities.
