Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have attempted to summarize the main features of the chart, the analysis is superficial and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the task. You have identified some trends, but the descriptions are often vague (e.g., 'green show fluctuation') and lack precise data points or clear comparisons. To improve, you must ensure you provide a comprehensive overview and support your points with specific, accurate data from the graph. The under-length nature of the response means that the task is only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the transitions between ideas are mechanical and often confusing. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'however' and 'in addition'. The overall structure is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of the data. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the information presented.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'show', 'fluctuation', and 'high', which restricts your ability to describe the data precisely. There are also errors in word choice, such as using 'racket' instead of 'bracket' or 'range', and 'block' instead of 'black'. The lack of variety in your lexical range prevents you from achieving a higher score. You should aim to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to trends and data, such as 'significant increase', 'remained stable', or 'fluctuated between'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Grey are similar'), missing articles, and incorrect punctuation. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper structure, which hinders clarity. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and work on using a variety of complex structures to demonstrate better control over English grammar.
