Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the categories and some trends, the analysis is superficial and lacks a clear overview of the data. You have not effectively highlighted the main features or made sufficient comparisons between the years. The description of the data is repetitive and lacks precision, failing to provide a clear summary of the changes over the eight-year period. To improve, ensure you provide a clear overview, select key data points to support your observations, and meet the minimum length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks logical organization and paragraphing. The information is presented in a series of disjointed sentences rather than a cohesive report. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, making the text difficult to follow. The introduction is repetitive, and the body of the text does not follow a clear progression. To improve, you should structure your response with a clear introduction, an overview paragraph, and body paragraphs that group related data together. Use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'meanwhile' to connect your sentences and improve the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'people', 'ratio', and 'information' without demonstrating a range of vocabulary suitable for an academic task. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'illustrates to the people of households' and 'highest ratio is there'. The phrasing is often awkward and does not convey the data accurately. To improve, focus on learning vocabulary related to trends and data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'accounted for', and 'proportion'. Avoid repeating the same words throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and fragments. You struggle with basic subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, for example, 'This chart shows to the given a information'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of currency symbols and commas. The range of structures is very limited, relying on simple, often incorrectly constructed sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct word order and the use of articles. Practice writing simple, error-free sentences before attempting more complex structures.
