Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to clearly identify the main trends or provide accurate comparisons. The overview is confusing and does not effectively highlight the key features of the chart. Furthermore, the data reporting is inconsistent and often inaccurate; for example, stating '39 of households' without specifying units or correctly interpreting the categories. The description of the data is fragmented, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the overall picture of how household income changed between 2007 and 2015. To improve, focus on grouping data logically and ensuring that figures are clearly linked to their respective categories and years.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inappropriate, such as 'First of all' and 'Now, we discuss about', which are not suitable for an academic report. Referencing is often unclear, particularly when comparing years, as the connections between the data points are not explicitly stated. The lack of clear transitions between the years makes the information difficult to follow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the flow of the writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic phrasing such as 'number of households' and 'annual income' throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'amount of households' (should be 'number of households') and 'salary was such as same' (which is grammatically and lexically awkward). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score. Incorporating more specific terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for', would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'we shows' and '39 of households annual income was'. Sentence structures are largely simple, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty or awkward. Punctuation is inconsistent, and there are errors in article usage and prepositional phrases. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence structure and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help improve accuracy.
