Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to accurately interpret the data provided in the chart. You have misread the categories, referring to 'households' as 'houses bought' or 'sales', which is a fundamental misunderstanding of the task. Furthermore, the data points mentioned are often incorrect or confusing, such as referencing a year '2009' which does not appear in the prompt. While you have attempted to identify trends, the lack of accuracy in reporting the figures and the misinterpretation of the chart's subject matter significantly hinder the task achievement. To improve, ensure you carefully read the axis labels and the prompt title before writing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is unclear due to the inaccurate data reporting. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moving ahead to' and 'In a nutshell', but they are often used mechanically or to connect inaccurate information. The referencing is also problematic; for example, referring to 'the sales of 2009' when that year is not present in the chart creates confusion. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logic within the paragraphs is weak because the information presented does not follow a clear analytical structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'range' and 'sales' to describe the data, which is not appropriate for a chart showing household income distribution. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'houses were bought of the maximum price', which is unnatural and imprecise. To reach a higher band, you should use more varied and precise terminology related to statistics and data description, such as 'income brackets', 'proportion', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'number of households in US' (missing the article 'the'), 'houses were bought of the maximum price' (incorrect preposition and phrasing), and 'other price ranges shows less changes' (subject-verb agreement error). While you attempt some complex sentence structures, they are often faulty. The control of basic grammar is inconsistent, and punctuation is sometimes neglected. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would significantly improve your writing.
