Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to accurately interpret the data provided. You have misidentified the chart's subject, referring to 'residence prices' and 'building houses' rather than the number of households by annual income. Consequently, the main features are not correctly reported. The overview is missing, and the information presented is largely inaccurate or confusing, such as the claim that prices increased over time, which is not supported by the data on household income brackets. To improve, you must carefully analyze the axes and labels of the chart before writing to ensure your summary reflects the actual data provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is some attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used ineffectively; for example, 'Nevertheless' and 'However' are used without a clear logical contrast between the preceding and following sentences. The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to understand which data points are being discussed. To improve, focus on using clear topic sentences for each paragraph and ensure that cohesive devices are used to link related ideas logically rather than appearing randomly.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is limited and often misused. You frequently use the word 'fascinating' or 'fascinate' in contexts where it is inappropriate, such as 'fascinating rapidly,' which does not describe numerical trends. Other terms like 'residences prices' and 'residence owner' are imprecise for describing household income data. There is a lack of range in vocabulary, and the errors in word choice significantly impede the clarity of the report. You should focus on learning specific vocabulary for describing trends, such as 'increase,' 'decrease,' 'remain stable,' and 'fluctuate,' and ensure you use them in the correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often obscure the intended meaning. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'residences prices... is'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. The use of symbols like '$' is inconsistent, and the phrasing 'the the' shows a lack of proofreading. There is very little evidence of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used are often grammatically flawed. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
