Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified some main features, the overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the overall trends. The description of the data is somewhat disorganized, and the attempt to compare the years is hindered by imprecise language. To improve, ensure you provide a clear, distinct overview paragraph that highlights the most significant trends (e.g., the growth in the highest income bracket) and ensure you meet the minimum length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. It is essentially one long paragraph, which makes it difficult to follow. There is a lack of logical progression between ideas, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal and sometimes misused (e.g., 'beside of it'). To improve, you should organize your response into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on specific data points. Use a wider range of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to connect your sentences and ideas more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and basic. Phrases like 'no specific changes occurred' and 'almost same' are imprecise. There are also errors in word choice, such as using 'accommodation' instead of 'households' and 'budget' instead of 'income'. To reach a higher band, you need to use a more varied range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'witnessed a significant increase', or 'the highest proportion'. Focus on using precise terminology to describe the trends shown in the graph.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('Given bar graph illustrate'), article usage ('the Number of accommodation'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which makes the text difficult to read. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb. Practice using complex structures like relative clauses or contrastive conjunctions, but ensure they are grammatically accurate before attempting them in your writing.
