Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have attempted to identify some main features, the response is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full summary of the data, including all categories and years, and ensure the response is of sufficient length to allow for a full development of the main trends and comparisons. Currently, the analysis is too brief to meet the requirements for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear structure due to its unfinished nature. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the lack of a completed body paragraph makes it difficult to assess the logical progression of ideas. The use of cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'In addition' is a positive start, but the abrupt ending prevents the text from being coherent as a whole. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts and using a wider range of linking words to connect your comparisons between the different years.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and limited. Phrases like 'earning' and 'making' are used repeatedly. There are also some awkward word choices, such as 'pied annually' and 'the chart captured that'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'accounted for', 'represented', or 'fluctuated'. Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you describe the trends in the chart more accurately and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. For example, 'most of households' should be 'most households', and '29 millions of households' should be '29 million households'. There are also issues with punctuation and capitalization, such as 'Us' instead of 'US' and the lowercase 'as' at the start of a sentence. The sentence structures are relatively simple. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that you use articles and pluralization correctly. Practicing more complex sentence structures will also help improve your range.
