Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to summarize the data, but it fails to accurately report the main features. The student misinterprets the chart, referring to 'price' and 'worth' rather than the number of households, and the data points cited (e.g., '25 million') do not align with the provided chart. The overview is confusing and lacks a clear summary of the trends. While the response identifies the categories (low, mid, high), the lack of accurate data reporting and the misinterpretation of the chart's purpose significantly hinder the task achievement. To improve, focus on accurately reading the axes and labels, and ensure the overview highlights the most significant trends rather than listing individual, inaccurate figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Initially', and 'However' is often mechanical and sometimes illogical, as they do not accurately reflect the relationship between the ideas presented. For example, the transition 'However after second period' is unclear. The referencing is also problematic, as the reader often struggles to follow which data points are being compared. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks coherence, making the overall argument difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. The student repeatedly uses 'worth' and 'price' to describe the number of households, which is a fundamental error in terminology for this task. There are also spelling errors such as 'homeholds' and 'serveral'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information precisely, relying on repetitive and basic descriptors like 'rose', 'soar', and 'rocketed', which are not used with appropriate precision. To reach a higher band, you must use accurate terminology related to data description and ensure spelling is correct.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the worth of high range houses stay'), tense consistency (e.g., 'the ratio of high range houses sharply climb'), and article usage. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty or contain errors in word order. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas. The high frequency of errors throughout the text makes it difficult to read and significantly impacts the clarity of the information provided.
