Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response attempts to address the task by summarizing the main features of the US household income chart across three years. However, there are significant inaccuracies and contradictions in the data reported. For example, the student states that the $75,000-$99,999 bracket is 'the lowest reported withe hoseholds', whereas the chart clearly shows this was around 14-15 million, while the lowest bracket was actually 'Less than $25,000' in certain years or others were lower at different points. Furthermore, the final paragraph contradicts earlier statements, claiming that households earning $25,000-$49,000 are the lowest at approximately 15 million, which misreads the visual data where this bracket is actually quite high (27 to 29.5 million). Because of these frequent data misinterpretations and confusing over-generalizations, the task response is limited.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The essay is divided into short paragraphs, attempting an introduction, overview, and body details. However, the logical progression is severely undermined by contradictory statements between paragraphs (e.g., describing a bracket as the second highest in paragraph three, and then claiming it is the lowest in paragraph four). Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as the redundant transition phrases 'Scrutinizing deeper into obtainable information' and 'Digging deeper into obtainable information' used consecutively. Referencing is also faulty, leading to confusion regarding which data points are being discussed. Paragraphing is attempted but lacks internal cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary displays a mix of ambitious attempts and noticeable inaccuracies. The student attempts less common lexical items such as 'delineated', 'conspicuosly cognized', and 'fluctuatted', but these often suffer from awkward collocation, unnatural phrasing, or spelling errors (e.g., 'conspicuosly', 'withe hoseholds', 'hopuseholds', 'house hold'). Words are frequently misused, such as 'cognized'. While there is a sufficient range to attempt describing data trends, the high frequency of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes impedes communication and lowers the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The text contains a limited range of grammatical structures with frequent errors. There are numerous basic grammatical inaccuracies, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the household... remains steady', 'household with other annual income fluctuatted'), missing articles ('in US', 'by provided bar chart'), and awkward prepositions. Complex sentence attempts often result in tangled phrasing and structural breakdowns (e.g., 'the household whose income is $50,000-$74,999 remains steady throught the period whereas household with other annual income fluctuatted...'). Punctuation is also problematic, including a conversational sign-off at the end ('Hereby, I conclude my report'). Errors frequently cause strain for the reader.
