Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response responds to the task only minimally and tangentially. The student attempts to report data from the chart, but the information is heavily confused, inaccurate, and lacks a coherent overview. For instance, the text refers to the 'total number of income' and misinterprets the categories shown on the bar graph. Furthermore, comparisons are vague and poorly connected to the actual visual data provided, resulting in a response that fails to fully or accurately address the prompt's requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organization into paragraphs, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are either inadequate, repetitive, or inaccurate, which disrupts the logical flow between ideas. Phrases like 'Looking first at total number of income' and 'Turning to US annual income' attempt to guide the reader, but referencing is frequently unclear, and the mechanical transitions do not successfully link the data points together into a structured summary.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with numerous noticeable errors in word choice and spelling that cause difficulty for the reader. Terms are often misused, such as 'totale number of households income' and 'househole on the Us', alongside repeated spelling mistakes ('dramticly', 'remaind', 'whice'). The range is limited and minimally adequate for conveying simple meanings, but lacks the precision and appropriateness required for an academic data summary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying on simple forms with frequent attempts at complex sentences that turn out faulty. There are persistent errors in verb tenses, articles, and word forms within grammatical patterns, such as 'the figure rose frome approximately higest 26 million s25000-49,999 in2011 to 30 million in 2011 , after whice it remained fall'. These frequent errors require the reader to slow down and occasionally cause difficulty in understanding the intended meaning.
