Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features and making relevant comparisons across the years. However, some ideas are under-developed or inaccurately stated. For instance, the statement that households earning $100,000 or more accounted for the highest information in each year is partially incorrect, as lower brackets also held high figures in earlier years. Additionally, the overview contains some unclear phrasing, such as 'highest information number of households'. While you successfully attempted to select and report the main trends, refining the accuracy of your data reporting and sharpening the overview will elevate your performance to the next level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The text has a coherent overall arrangement and is divided into logical paragraphs that separate the overview from the body details. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always clear, leading to a lack of smooth progression. For example, phrases like 'On other hand' lack correct article usage, and transitions between sentences feel abrupt. To improve cohesion, you should employ a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing words clearly point back to their intended subjects, allowing the reader to move effortlessly through your ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, successfully communicating basic ideas about income brackets and trends, but it contains noticeable inaccuracies and spelling errors. Words such as 'ancountered', 'increses', 'illusstrats', and 'steadly' demonstrate issues with word form and spelling. Furthermore, collocation and lexical choice can be awkward, as seen in expressions like 'proportional rate' and 'highest information'. To reach a higher standard, you should expand your range of less common lexical items related to data trends and pay closer attention to precise word choices and correct spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but it is marred by frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage. Sentences like 'The proportional rate of Number of households of $100,000 or more was round about near to' contain awkward phrasing and redundant prepositions, while 'which slightly drop in 2011 and dramatically increses in 2015' displays tense inconsistency. There are also frequent omissions or misuses of articles, such as 'at lowest position'. To improve this score, focus on maintaining consistent past tenses when reporting historical chart data, ensure proper subject-verb agreement, and carefully proofread your sentences to eliminate basic structural errors.
