Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant figures, including the rise in households earning at least $100,000 to about 34 million in 2015 and the relatively low totals in the $75,000–$99,999 group. However, the response only partially summarises the chart: it focuses mainly on selected categories and years, with little account of the overall pattern across all five income bands. Some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the $25,000–$49,999 group was about 27 million in 2007, not “almost 30 million,” and the lowest figure for the $75,000–$99,999 band was in 2011, but the 2007 figure was also close. Include a concise overview and report the main changes more systematically.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence, moving from 2007 to 2011 and then 2015, and linking phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Additionally” show an attempt to organise the information. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the second point returns to 2007 after the first point has already discussed that year, and the opening does not provide a clear overview. Repeated sequencing words make the organisation feel mechanical, while some references, such as “in this year,” require the reader to infer which year is meant. Group the information into a clear overview followed by comparisons of related income bands, and use more precise referencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “annual income,” “number of households,” “range,” and “compare,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For example, “houses” is repeatedly used where “households” is needed, and “earned salary” is not a natural description of household income. “The most lower” and “the graph demonstrates” also show imprecise phrasing; “the lowest” and “the chart shows” would be more appropriate. Work on accurate income-band terminology and vary reporting verbs and comparison language while keeping expressions natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt longer sentences with clauses introduced by “which,” “that,” and “if,” but these structures are often faulty, and many sentences contain errors in basic grammar. Examples include “This graph illustrates us that,” “the highest income which are,” and “income … are almost remain consistent.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction, as in “the number of households which earned that income are.” These errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow. Build more reliable simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses carefully; check subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and use consistent past-tense reporting for the years shown.
