Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify several relevant rankings, including that households earning $100,000 or more form the largest group in 2007 and 2015, and that the $50,000–$74,999 group stays broadly unchanged. However, the response only partially summarises the chart: it gives no clear overall overview and mainly lists categories year by year rather than selecting and comparing the main trends. Some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, in 2007 the $25,000–$49,999 group was slightly larger than the under-$25,000 group, while the text’s income ranges become confused when it says “50K-80K” and later describes the $75,000–$99,999 group as least. Include the key changes, especially the rise in the highest-income group by 2015, and report the categories accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic chronological structure, with separate sections beginning “In 2007,” “In 2011,” and “in 2015,” so readers can follow which year is being discussed. However, there is little overall progression beyond these repeated lists, and the response lacks a distinct overview to guide the reader through the main features. Linking phrases such as “then on second” and “on third” are used mechanically and repeatedly, while the long first sentence is difficult to follow. The final section also ends abruptly. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and two comparison-focused detail paragraphs; use links such as “by contrast” or “whereas” to show relationships between income groups and years.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant terms, including “households,” “annual income,” “increase,” and “fall,” and the income bands are generally recognisable. However, the vocabulary is limited and repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “people” and “comes,” and several word choices are inaccurate for describing a chart. “Greatest Propotion of Household” is not a natural way to describe the largest category, and “bar” is used where the income band or group is meant. Spelling errors such as “Propotion,” “wose,” “figues,” and “thirs” also make the report less clear. Build a more precise range for describing quantities and trends, and check spelling and collocations before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to describe changes using present and past forms, and some basic clauses communicate the intended comparisons. However, sentence structures are limited, and many sentences are incomplete or awkwardly joined. For example, “In 2011, the figues are relatively stable, there is an increase…” joins separate ideas with a comma, while “then on second nuber it is to people” lacks a clear grammatical structure. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “the greatest … is of those people” and the final unfinished list. Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, maintain past tense for the years shown, and vary simple statements with accurate comparison clauses.
