Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many individuals regard that history is one of the vital subjects in school. while other believe that subjects like science and technology are more beneficial than history currently. But i think most crucial subjects in today's world are science and technology.

On the one hand, few people say that history is important because it gives us information about our past debates and the sacrifices of our leaders. For example the history subject tells us about how our country is separate nation from others. As well as they talk about the difficulties occur to our leaders and how they faced it. As a result having the subject of history motivate us through our elders and makes us strong and independent

On the other hand, in today's world for students it is important to have subjects such as, science and technology because this subjects are used around the world,it helps students to gain information about technology and science. For instance, they should know about mobile phones and the usage of it. Additionally, science is a crucial subject for their future students can build successful career in the field of science. Research say it is vital for humans health and also for animals. because after studying medical field in science can help people with their treatment. This is why i stronly believe that science subject is very beneficial for students.

In conclusion, although history plays an important role in our lives but in current world it is crucial to have subjects like technology and science due to it helps individual to deal with problems in current days. thus, i am in the favor of having subject, i:e, science and technology because it plays crucial part in humans lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state your view clearly: the introduction and conclusion favour science and technology, while the body paragraphs give reasons for valuing each subject. The examples about national history, mobile phones and medical study are relevant. However, several points remain general or unclear, such as how learning about leaders’ sacrifices makes students “strong and independent,” and the claim that research is vital for human and animal health is not explained with a specific example. The discussion therefore covers the task, but the ideas are not consistently extended or supported. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each reason and develop one concrete example for each viewpoint.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “As well as they talk” does not clearly identify who “they” refers to, and the sentence about science, future careers and research moves between points without showing how they relate. The conclusion also repeats the preference stated in the introduction rather than bringing the main reasons together. Use clearer referencing and link each supporting sentence directly to the paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss education, including “sacrifices,” “independent,” “successful career,” and “treatment.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “crucial subject” and “beneficial.” However, the range is limited by repeated words such as “important,” “subject,” and “science,” and several choices or combinations are unnatural: “past debates,” “our country is separate nation,” and “Research say.” Spelling errors such as “stronly” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use precise collocations and vary repeated terms, while checking spelling. For example, describe history as offering “lessons from past events” and say that research “shows” or “indicates” something.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “although,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation sometimes make ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “this subjects are used,” “having the subject of history motivate us,” and “although history plays an important role in our lives but…”. The sentence beginning “Research say” also has an agreement problem, while several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, and avoid using “although” and “but” together in the same clause.
