Student answer (Band 6.0)
History is the most important part of any country's culture. But, we cannot ignore the fact that modern subjects like science and technology are also very important in today's world.I explain both views in following passages.
No doubt, we can determine anything about any country if we are wellknown of its future. From history, we can also know about our old culture that is nowadays totally forgot. Moreover, history is not only a subject but a way of experiencing the life that our ancestors' lived and how bravely they handled the difficult situations in the past.No doubt, history is a very great subject to learn but, there are also some problems with it,As we are talking about the history, we should keep in mind that most of stories we study in history are not as authentic as it should be.
On the other hand, subjects like science and technology are also very important. As the technology is becoming popular day by day we should also focus on these modern subjects. If we want to get a good job upportunities in the future we should give more attention to these kind of subjects.
In conclusion, I want to say that there should be a proper balance between the tradional subjects like history and modern subjects like technology and science. If we focus only on history, we cannot cope up with other developing countries. On the other hand, if we focus only on science and technology we might be a succesful society but can never a morally active and the society which remembers its past.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear overall view: history matters, but schools should balance it with science and technology. The points about learning from ancestors and gaining future job opportunities are relevant, and the conclusion returns to your position. However, the two views are not developed equally: the case for science and technology is mainly linked to employment, while the history paragraph includes a claim about the reliability of historical accounts without explaining its significance. The statement that we can learn about a country from its “future” also seems to mean its past, which makes the idea unclear. To strengthen the response, explain each main reason with a specific example and make the comparison between the subjects more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two perspectives, and a conclusion that restates your balanced position. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, some links feel mechanical, especially the repeated “No doubt,” and several ideas within the history paragraph are joined without a clear progression. For example, the point about historical stories being inauthentic appears abruptly after the benefits of studying ancestors. Some references, such as “these kind of subjects,” are also not fully clear. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “ancestors,” “authentic,” “developing countries,” and “morally active,” and you attempt to express abstract ideas about culture and society. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “wellknown of its future” does not convey the intended meaning, “old culture” would be clearer as “traditional culture,” and “job upportunities” contains a spelling error. There are also spelling errors in “tradional” and “succesful.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than more ambitious wording where the meaning is uncertain. Proofreading spelling and checking collocations would make your ideas easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including clauses beginning with “if” and “as,” and most of the main ideas remain understandable. Some grammatical and punctuation errors nevertheless reduce accuracy. For example, “the life that our ancestors' lived” has an unnecessary possessive apostrophe, while “we might be a succesful society but can never a morally active” is missing a verb in the second clause. Articles and agreement also need attention in “most of stories” and “these kind of subjects.” Several sentences run together because spaces after full stops are missing, and commas are sometimes placed incorrectly, as in “but, there are.” Review sentence boundaries, article use, and parallel verb structures, then proofread each sentence for a complete grammatical pattern.
