Student answer (Band 5.5)
In a contemporary era, it is widely believed that history is a crucial school subjet while other consider that science and technology subjects are more significant than history.
From my perspective, although history facilitates us with the knowledge of our ancestors lives and other historical events but science and technology are still valuable than history because they are the needs of the modern age.
First of all, I would like to talk about the individuals who feel that history is more important subject than all other subjects. Initially, there may be several reasons that why they think so. One major factor is their intrest to know everything about their history, their ancestors lives and some historical cultural events. Therefore, they give priorty to history subject than other subjects. Actually, I am also very fond of having knowledge about my country's and ancestors history. However, it does not mean that we put history subject over other subjects only because of our intrest.
Past is past, it can enhance our knowledge of history but can't cope with our daily life difficulties and bring a revolution. Consequently, it is our basic need to know about science and technology rather than past stories which are useless. Moreover, in order to survive and make progress in this modern age, science and technology play vital role. That's why, students should focus on them because they are the future of our country. Furthermore, we can do more better for country and ourselves by consuming more knowledge with the help of these two crucial subjects.
To conclude, although history subject is loved by some people and they find it more intresting but science and technology are still more significant subjects in order to survive and bring a huge change in this world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a clear overall opinion: science and technology are more important for modern needs, while history remains interesting and informative. You also include a personal reference to your interest in your country’s and ancestors’ history. However, the discussion of the view favouring history is brief and focuses mainly on people’s interest in the past, rather than explaining its wider value, such as learning from past decisions or understanding cultural identity. The case for science and technology is more developed, but claims such as history being unable to help with daily difficulties and being “useless” are broad and insufficiently supported. Develop both sides with specific reasons and examples, and make the comparison more balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate discussion of the two positions, and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the shift from the value of history to the importance of science and technology. You also use signposts such as “First of all,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude.” At times, however, these transitions feel mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is not always smooth. For example, the history paragraph moves from people’s interest to your own interest and then to a qualification without fully connecting those points. Some references, such as “these two crucial subjects,” are understandable but could be more precise. Use clearer links between each reason and its consequence, rather than relying mainly on sequencing phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “historical events,” “modern age,” “survive,” “make progress,” and “revolution,” which allows you to communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “play vital role.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable: “subjet,” “intrest,” and “priorty” should be corrected, while “ancestors lives” and “past stories” are not natural or precise in this context. Some expressions are also awkward, including “consuming more knowledge” and “do more better.” Aim for accurate collocations and more specific vocabulary—for example, describe history as helping students understand cultural identity or learn from past events, rather than dismissing it as “useless.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “although history facilitates us … but science and technology…” and a reason clause beginning “because they are the needs of the modern age.” These attempts show some range, but several sentences contain errors in structure, agreement, or articles. In the opening, “while other consider” needs a plural subject and matching verb; in the second paragraph, “although” should not be paired with “but.” Articles are missing in phrases such as “more important subject” and “play vital role,” and “we can do more better” has an incorrect comparative construction. Review sentence patterns with although, subject–verb agreement, and article use. More accurate control of these forms would make your argument easier to follow.
