Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that history is among the vital subjects which teached at eduactional settings while other thinks that in modern era courses like Science and technology are more beneficial than history. In my opinion, Science and technology are more important as they are the gate openers for various professions.

As we know that, history is the core subject through which we are able to learn about past generation and cultures. It is the mean through which we know about the different events and wars. For instance, the people who were in the past years used to wore diverse clothes, jewellery and they used to live in different cities. So, in this way we will be able to study and know about their societies. But the passage of time the interest of individuals changed. Now the children feel that history is boring and not a proper way to study about past because internet is available to gain information about this stuff in proper way.

Today's generation is much interested in Science and technology because this is interesting and brings new opportunities in individual's life. For example , if we talk about technology through which many things are easy now. Anyone who wants to know anything such as, he wants to study about antiobiotics, then he needs only to search a specific topic on internet and he will be able to find about different remedies and structure and function of medicines within a minute. So, these subjects will help the child to study in a proper way and also he will be able to know about the world in a better means instead of studying about history in specific book.

So, according to my perspective Science and technology are the better options for the students as they will help to connect with worldwide community in meaningful manner as compared to history.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and state a clear preference for science and technology, describing history as a way to learn about past societies and modern subjects as a source of opportunities. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the history paragraph mainly lists clothing, jewellery, and cities, while the science example focuses on finding information online rather than explaining how studying science itself benefits students. The claim that the internet makes history less necessary also weakens the discussion, since it does not fully address history’s educational value. To strengthen the response, explain more directly why historical knowledge matters and develop your comparison with specific, relevant reasons for your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each viewpoint, and a concluding statement. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “For instance,” “For example,” and “So.” At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. “But the passage of time the interest of individuals changed” does not clearly show how the point follows from the preceding example, and “So, in this way” repeats the same linking function. Some references, such as “this stuff” and “these subjects,” are imprecise. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each reason and its example explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “past generation and cultures,” “opportunities,” “worldwide community,” and “structure and function of medicines.” These choices help communicate the subject matter, but several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision. Examples include “gate openers,” “the mean through which,” “in a better means,” and “proper way to study about past.” There are also spelling errors such as “eduactional” and “antiobiotics.” Aim for natural academic collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “career opportunities,” “a way of learning about the past,” and “a better understanding of the world.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “through which” and “because,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “which teached” should be “which are taught,” “other thinks” should be “others think,” and “used to wore” should be “used to wear.” The sentence beginning “Anyone who wants to know anything such as” is also awkwardly constructed and difficult to follow. Review subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and simplify sentences when a longer structure becomes hard to control. More consistently accurate sentences would make your ideas clearer.
