Student answer (Band 6.5)

Education plays a vital role in human life's. It has many subjects and knowledge regarding particular's interest. In that argument only some people believes that history is one of the most important subject. Other people argue that subject like Science and Technology are more important than history. In my opinion, both the subjects are equally important in every aspect of life and cannot be compare with each other. This essay will anticipate the idea and facts with clear argument.

The very first section will show why people think history as an important subject. Firstly, history give the information about the past, culture and what really happens at that time. It also helps us in numerous debate competition if their is a grip in the history. It also provide vital information about medicine and other technological ideas and innovation. For example, India has a long history in every aspects like the British rule to Mughal invasion and to the history about the invention of medicine for every disease to mathematics , science, astronomy , astrology etc. It really helps people to understand the past and innovation at that time to develop and make better in today's world.

On the other side, in modern world science and technology has been given more priority than any other subject due to advancement in field and development. People believes that nowadays, history have no benefit on people career and success . For instance, every development and innovation happening is only possible due to the advancement in science and technology therefore, in people mind science and technology is consider as more important subject than history.

As per my perspective, both are equally important in development and innovation because history provides brief knowledge of our ancestor and old objects like archologist sometimes find valuable things which further in may terms and science and technology which is also important to study for upcoming future development and creating new things. There is no subject which is superior to one another every subject has it's own importance.

To conclude, balance of both the things are very important for the human and every subject has it's own role in people life and their career in the end it depends upon individual opinion on whichever subject they want to study.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument for history mentions 'medicine' and 'astrology' as examples of historical knowledge, which is slightly tangential to the core value of history as a school subject. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. The essay would benefit from more focused analysis rather than listing general concepts. Overall, the response meets the requirements but remains at a basic level of development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In that argument only some people believes' or 'As per my perspective'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow of ideas is sometimes hindered by these repetitive or awkward linking phrases. Improving the variety and precision of cohesive devices would significantly enhance the readability of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'human life's' (instead of 'human life'), 'particular's interest' (instead of 'particular interests'), and 'archologist' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms like 'important' and 'good' repeatedly. To improve, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms and spelling. The errors present do not impede communication, but they do limit the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some people believes', 'history have no benefit', 'science and technology is consider') and pluralization (e.g., 'every aspects', 'human life's'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
