Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument against History focuses narrowly on the idea that it is just 'old data' that cannot be implemented, which is a superficial treatment of the subject's value. The support for Science and Technology is more developed, with specific examples like AI and eco-cars, but the explanation of why these are 'more important' remains slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced reasoning for why History is less relevant in the modern era rather than simply stating it is 'old'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'and many more' or 'it also'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'the other subjects' in the introduction, which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. You rely on basic terms like 'important', 'subject', and 'information' repeatedly. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'devoted in AI' (should be 'devoted to') and 'make an effective communicate' (should be 'communicate effectively'). While the meaning is generally clear, the vocabulary does not demonstrate the flexibility or control required for a higher band. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the fields of education and technology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('History subject provide', 'science and technology are become'), missing articles ('in students mind'), and incorrect pluralization ('students live'). While you attempt complex sentences, they are often faulty, such as 'many countries such as Germany and Italy's government schools are now teach like how to invent'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable, though they do not prevent the overall message from being understood.
