Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, but the development of ideas is limited. The essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which prevents a full exploration of the arguments. While the introduction and body paragraphs touch upon the importance of history and science, the conclusion is abrupt and incomplete, failing to fully synthesize the arguments or provide a well-supported final stance. To improve, you must expand your supporting points with more detailed examples and ensure the essay meets the required length to allow for a comprehensive discussion of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'Moreover' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the brevity of the text. The conclusion is particularly weak and lacks a proper transition, appearing as a fragmented sentence. To achieve a higher score, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by well-developed supporting ideas that flow logically into the next section.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'economic crises', 'critical thinking', and 'competitive job market'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and form, such as 'History play' (should be 'plays') and 'advance in medicine' (should be 'advances'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and ensure you are using the correct word forms consistently throughout your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('History play', 'history teacher teaches') and sentence fragments ('By studying the historical events...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the final paragraph. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the overall clarity. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that every sentence is complete and grammatically sound.
