Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that history is one of the significant school subjects while, others opine that science and technology are more important than history in today's world. I will discuss both the views and give my opinion at the end.
On the one hand, those who believe that history is important subject in school. This is because, children should know about past of their country, they should get knowledge about the kings rules and their background also remember the names of the mughal empire who had done great work. For example, the Taj Mahal is made by shahjahan which comes in seven wonders of the world should be known by children.
On the other hand, there are subjects like science and technology are more important because many of the children these days focused on the subjects like science and technology for becoming a scientist or have great technologist so they think history would not help them in career progression for them these subjects are more valuable. In addition history is a subject which only have theory to learn so students can learn online but science and technology have practical subjects which cannot be perform by them at home. For instance, due to AI technology they can learn history by themselves on internet but science and technology could not learn by their own.
In my opinion, although history is important subject to study the past traditions but the science and technology is a subject which is more valuable for their career development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding history are quite narrow, focusing primarily on local examples like the Taj Mahal, and the reasoning for science and technology is repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the broader societal benefits of these subjects rather than focusing solely on career progression or the mode of delivery (online vs. practical). The conclusion is present but could be more robust in summarizing the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'In addition'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is weak, such as the transition between the importance of history and the specific example of the Taj Mahal. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, and more sophisticated linking words would improve the overall cohesion of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'important', 'great', and 'subjects'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'technologist' instead of 'technicians' or 'engineers', and 'cannot be perform' which is a grammatical error affecting lexical accuracy. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to education and career development, and avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'the Taj Mahal is made by shahjahan' should be 'was built by Shah Jahan', and 'science and technology could not learn by their own' is grammatically incorrect. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction and verb tense prevents a higher score.
