Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the importance of history for identity and the necessity of science for modern life, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, you mention 'remarkable things that their ancestors had done' without providing a concrete historical example. Similarly, the discussion on science is quite general. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and specific illustrations. Your position is clear, but the conclusion is abrupt and could be better integrated with the preceding arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or missing. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. You rely on simple connectors like 'In contrast' and 'In addition', but there is a lack of sophisticated linking words to show complex relationships between ideas. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack clear logical flow, such as the final sentence of the essay, which feels disconnected from the rest of the paragraph. Improving the variety and precision of your cohesive devices would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary society', 'educational institutions', and 'significance'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'agreements that had been happened' (likely meaning 'events that occurred') and 'daily base life'. The phrase 'medical medicines' is redundant. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary, the lack of precision and occasional errors in word formation prevent a higher score. Expanding your range of collocations and ensuring words are used in their correct context will help improve your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include missing articles ('in present world'), incorrect verb tenses ('agreements that had been happened'), and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods. Subject-verb agreement is also inconsistent, for example, 'science and technology is the reason'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors is noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles, verb forms, and sentence punctuation.
