Student answer (Band 5.5)
When importance of particular subject in school is discussed, there are divided opinions. Some are the opinion that History is one of the most significant school subjects, while a few others argue that in today's world subjects like Science and technology are more important than History. Meanwhile, not only the both views but also my opinion will be explained in the ensuing paragraphs, along with examples.
Examining the formal opinion, the foremost argument the supporters would put forward is History collect the all positives and negatives of particular event and helps people learn from past mistakes. To justify it further, history preserve culture, tradition and national identity. For instance, Learning about the world war 2 promotes peace and global cooperation. With the help of history people can understand global economy and learn modern economic policies. Also history explain the truth of political and social issues. History also suggest not making same kind of mistake again. For example, history tells us India's freedom movement.
However, the latter view has its own claim. The most significant argument is in today's complex world Science and technology are most important because Science drives innovation, economic growth and provides practical skills for modern careers. To be more specific, Science improve the education system with the help of online learning platform, modern laboratory and high standard school infrastructure as well as invention like ML and AI make education more easy and cost effective. One prominent example is Artificial Intelligence create new jobs and renewable energy reduce pollution.
In today's contemporary era, there is equally potential evidence to support the argument I have provided. Hence, in my opinion a balance education combining both subjects is the best approach.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention that history helps us learn from mistakes, the explanation is repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the examples provided, such as 'India's freedom movement', are mentioned but not sufficiently explained to illustrate the point. The second body paragraph regarding science and technology is better developed with specific references to AI and renewable energy. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully expanded with logical reasoning rather than listing multiple points in a single sentence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'However', 'For instance', and 'To be more specific'. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Meanwhile, not only the both views but also my opinion will be explained'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The use of cohesive devices is sufficient for the task, but they are not always used with the flexibility or precision required for higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'innovation', 'contemporary era', and 'national identity'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'History collect the all positives' (should be 'collects all the positive aspects') and 'make education more easy' (should be 'easier'). There is also a tendency to repeat the word 'history' frequently. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word forms and collocations are accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('history preserve', 'Artificial Intelligence create') and article usage ('the all positives'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors that occasionally interrupt the flow. The errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
