Student answer (Band 6.0)

Whether the school curriculum should be based on real life skills like science and technology or it should include the arts subjects also. I believe that the main focus should be on science subjects while history should also included to make a perspective of our ancestors.

Advancement in science and technology has changed the world completely. Now, students are more interested in subjects which help them to shape their future and secure a job in their relevant field. Many companies are offering jobs in the field of artifacial intelligence, scientific reasearch and technology. The students can not only get a good opportunity by learning these skills but also start their own business.

On the contrary, the arts subjects like History has no secure position in terms of employment. Only a few options are available for studenst if they teach these subjects. Moreover, these subjects can increase the critical thinking and cognitive abilities of a student. Furtermore, the students can gain a deeper knowledge about the past, make conclusion learn life lessons from past incidents. Overall, these subjects can reshape the personality and moral behaviour of a human.

For example, if students only learn subjects like science and mathematics, they can earn money in future but if they have no arts subjects than their charatcter building will be incomplete and they cannot learn empathy, brotherhood and love.

All in all, every subject which is taught in schools have its own importance like theoratical subjects can build character but science subjects can help them to enhance their skills and to get a better career.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the benefits of science are clearly linked to employment, the discussion on history is slightly repetitive, focusing on 'character building' and 'moral behaviour' without providing concrete examples of how historical study specifically achieves these outcomes. The introduction is a sentence fragment, which slightly impacts the clarity of the initial position. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with specific, logical reasoning rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'On the contrary', 'Moreover', and 'All in all' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by grammatical errors or awkward phrasing, such as the opening sentence. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the final paragraph and the preceding arguments could be more seamless to improve the overall progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'artificial intelligence', 'scientific research', and 'cognitive abilities'. However, there are several spelling errors ('artifacial', 'reasearch', 'studenst', 'Furtermore', 'theoratical') and some word choice issues, such as 'make conclusion' instead of 'draw conclusions'. The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but the lack of precision and spelling inaccuracies prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('every subject... have its own importance'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms ('history should also included'). The first sentence is a fragment, lacking a main verb for the subject. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex structures, keeping the score in the 6.0 range.
