Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the arguments for Science and Technology are supported with specific examples like NASA and Einstein, the section on History is less developed and relies on general statements. The essay structure is logical, but the conclusion is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that both sides of the argument are explored with equal depth and that the personal opinion is integrated more fluidly throughout the body paragraphs rather than just stated in the introduction and conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', which help the reader follow the argument. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the mention of Einstein and the field of biology. The use of referencing is generally clear, but improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall cohesion of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'quantum theory', 'practical innovations', and 'systematic understanding'. However, there are several word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'subjects like Science has achieved' (should be 'have achieved') and 'morels' (likely meant 'morals'). The range is sufficient for the task, but more precise and varied vocabulary would be needed to move into the higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'subjects like Science has achieved', 'Technological subjects plays') and pluralization (e.g., 'each sectors', 'king like Chhatrapati'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction. The student demonstrates an attempt at complex structures, but the frequency of errors prevents a higher score, as these errors occasionally require the reader to re-read for clarity.
