Student answer (Band 6.0)

I think this is a pretty competitive topic and as a person majoring in history i am going to have stronger arguments for it being one of the most important subjects.

To begin with every subject is interesting and important depending on your personal interests. benefits, degree and future plans. in my opinion History is one of the most important subjects in school especially if its being taught from early on. it is pretty important to be taught and know about the past of your ancestors and your country as well as the whole world's for general knowledge.

personally in my country kids are taught about the history of their bloodline and home town/country from the moment they can speak and memorize informaton fluently and i think that is how it should be not because of the fact that it is considered shame to not know about the history of your country but because i think every individual should know where and how does their blood and land comes from.

On the other hand in our time technology is at the top of the most important things you should have general knowledge over and know how to control. Technology is everywhere. Technology is everything. whether you are shopping, trying to find information, paying bills, eating, reading or doing the most basic thing. nobody needs separate stuff for anything just one click and it is all done within seconds. people can not go a hour without technology anymore, it has consumed our lives even if you do not want or do not need it you are still going to have to use it.

In addition, given the reasons and arguments above in my opinion both History and Technology subjects should be taught from earlier on and both are as important as one another.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument for history is personal and anecdotal, while the section on technology is more descriptive than analytical. To reach a higher band, you should provide more academic justification for why these subjects are important, rather than focusing on personal habits or general observations. The conclusion is brief but effectively synthesizes your position. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of argument is limited by the informal tone and lack of specific, objective examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within and between paragraphs. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the reliance on simple sentence structures makes the flow feel somewhat disjointed. Improving the variety of transition signals (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive and informal phrasing, such as 'pretty important', 'separate stuff', and 'consumed our lives'. There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'informaton' (spelling) and 'where and how does their blood and land comes from'. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more academic vocabulary and collocations that are appropriate for a formal essay, moving away from conversational language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar that occasionally impede the flow. For example, there is a lack of capitalization at the start of sentences (e.g., 'in my opinion'), missing commas, and run-on sentences. Subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'where and how does their blood... comes from', are also present. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence boundary punctuation and proofreading for basic errors is essential.
