IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say History is one of the most important school subjects. Other people think that in today’s world subjects like Science and technology are more important than History.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant example form your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some individuals believe that History is one of the most significant subjects, while others assert that Science and technology are more important in today's world subjects.

There are those who suggest that History is a more essential school subject since the topics are all about what happened in the beginning. It answers the questions on how things happen, when it started, and who are the people involved. So this helps the students to understand more about the background of a story or an event.

Nevertheless, there are some people who think that Science and technology is much more significant. There are different branches of science that discuss about humanity, animals, and environment, which shows its importance to students because of the topics that is useful in everyday life. On the other hand, technology is a subject that is very essential nowadays, because of the new developments and improvements on how useful it is to human beings.

In my opinion, Science and technology is far more important because it provides relevant information especially those topics related to health. It is a subject that can help students to enhance their skills, learn new methods, and help the community as well. For instance, the medical technologist uses the combination of science and technology as part of their job as allied health workers. As a result, they provide accurate results that can help the doctors to diagnose a disease.

In conclusion, science and technology is a subject that is more important than history because it widens their knowledges specifically in health related topics and not only limit their knowledge in learning the backgrounds of a study that is mainly the objective of History subject.
