Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is an undeniable fact that history plays paramount role in a student life, however, many student think that in today's world subject like science and technology plays a vital role. I vehemently agree with the notion that science and technology are more important in today's life.
On the one hand, History is an important subject because it helps students understand the past. By learning about wars, important leaders, cultures and major events, students can understand how their country and society have developed. History can also teach people from past mistakes and help them make better decisions in the future. For example, learning about world wars can help young people understand the importance of peace and cooperation between countries. Therefore, History has an important role in developing knowledge about society.
On the other hand, Science and Technology are becoming increasingly important in modern life. Technology is used in almost every field, such as education, medicine, communication and business. Students who learn science and technology can develop useful skills for their future careers. For example, knowledge of computers and artificial intelligence can help students find jobs in the growing technology industry. In addition, scientific development can help in solving important problems such as diseases, pollution and climate change.
The inexorable description on this subject may keep on going nevertheless, observing the finer nuance and keeping a deep reverence for the fact, I would like to espouse my notion that science and technology plays a vital role in today's life due to new emergent technology so it is more important for the students compared to history.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout the essay. Ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of world wars for history and artificial intelligence for technology. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, the arguments could be extended with more depth or nuanced analysis, particularly in the conclusion, which feels slightly repetitive rather than synthesizing the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'In addition', and 'Therefore' are used appropriately to guide the reader. However, the final paragraph contains some awkward phrasing ('The inexorable description on this subject may keep on going') which slightly disrupts the flow. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. The student uses some good collocations like 'paramount role', 'vehemently agree', and 'emergent technology'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices or phrasing, such as 'inexorable description' and 'espouse my notion', which sound a bit forced or misused in this context. While these do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Spelling is generally accurate throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'history plays paramount role' should be 'a paramount role'; 'many student think' should be 'many students think'; 'science and technology plays' should be 'play'). While these errors are frequent, they do not impede the reader's understanding. To improve, the student should focus on articles, pluralization, and ensuring verbs agree with their subjects.
