Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding history are vague, mentioning 'dynasties' and 'temples' without explaining their educational value. Similarly, the points on science and technology are repetitive and lack depth, relying on general statements like 'making inventions of new things'. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments are under-developed and lack specific, well-reasoned examples. To improve, you should focus on explaining 'why' these subjects are important rather than just listing them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore', they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that feels mechanical. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between the importance of technology and the mention of China feels abrupt. The logical flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors, which makes the overall argument harder to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'important', 'things', and 'subjects'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'scientifical knowledge' (should be 'scientific knowledge') and 'most grateful things' (which does not fit the context). Some phrases are awkward, such as 'managed so easier'. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of academic vocabulary and ensure that words are used in their correct collocations. Avoid using informal or imprecise language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('peoples are focusing', 'science and technology has more important'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, such as the comma usage in 'argument that , science'. While there is an attempt at complex sentence structures, these are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound.
